Johnny Wactor’ General Hospital Spoilers teases the real reason Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) was dismissed from his role on General Hospital has little to do with the storyline and everything to do with workplace policy. Last fall, the popular daytime soap fell under a Covid-19 vaccine mandate by Disney, parent company to ABC. The policy required vaccination for Covid-19 from all employees on the premises, but not everyone took kindly to it.

General Hospital Spoilers — Wactor Would Be The Third GH Alum To Be Axed Over The Mandate

If Johnny Wactor’s exit is due to non-compliance with the vaccine mandate, he’s in good company. Diehard fans are grieving the unexpected loss of Brando, but the fanbase for Jasper Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) goes back decades, and the backlash was fierce when they were both fired over the vaccine mandate last year.

But wait a minute. If Ingo and Steve were fired last year, wouldn’t Brando have been given the boot then, too? No, not if he was fully vaccinated at that time. If Disney’s mandate dictates employees must remain up-to-date, it could be that Wactor has since reversed course on his choice to continue receiving the vaccine — a decision many who originally took the jabs have made.

GH Spoilers – Ingo Rademacher And Steve Burton Spoke Out About Religious Exemptions — Will Johnny Wactor?

Ingo was the first one to break the news, and he wasn’t happy about the decision. He has since pursued legal action against Disney for denying his request for a religious exemption and is expected in court in early 2023. Steve seemed to take it in stride a bit more — although he was denied the same exemption — noting he didn’t bear any ill feelings toward Frank Valentini or the GH family. Fans were divided, with some feeling GH producers should’ve stood up to Disney, and others feeling they were just doing what they needed to in order to keep the show on air.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects an individual’s right to religious exemption from vaccine mandates in the workplace. It requires employers to reasonably accommodate employees who have sincerely held religious beliefs that preclude them from receiving a vaccination, so long as said accommodations would not place an undue hardship on the employer. Religious beliefs can range from a personal guidance the person feels they received from God to actual scripture and religious tenets practiced in a congregation.

Were Ingo, Steve, and Johnny brought in for questioning about their religious exemptions à la Mac Scorpio style? Such an event is called the interactive process instead of an interrogation, and it allows employers to ask questions before accepting an exemption. They can’t judge whether or not a person’s beliefs are valid, but the employer is allowed to use the information gleaned to discern whether the employee’s reasons for opting out of the vaccine are truly due to their sincerely held religious beliefs — or something else entirely, such as political or medical concerns surrounding the vaccine.

General Hospital Spoilers – Hints Johnny Wactor Is Quiet About His Departure Because There’s More To The Story

Johnny Wactor has posted a public video about his unexpected departure from GH, noting it was just as much of a surprise to him. If it was a surprise, then perhaps it has nothing to do with the vaccine because he would’ve known that was a possibility. On the other hand, if he was let go because of the mandate, he may want to skirt any drama that could ensue by sharing that truth — having learned a lesson from Ingo and Steve’s experiences. Regardless, Brando Corbin will be sorely missed by many! Check back here often for updates on who’s coming, who’s going — and why!
